About Jilin

Jilin Province is situated in the north-eastern part of China, bordering Korea in the south and the Soviet Union in the east. Covering an area of over 180,000 square kilometers, it has a population of 27.50 million (2007), comprising nationalities of Han, Korea, Manchu, Hui, Mongolian and Xibe. The Capital of Jilin Province is Changchun.

Jilin's winter is long and severe. The average temperature in January is between -14ºC (6.8 ºF) and -20C (-1ºF), with the temperature in the Changbai Mountain region being below the average. Education

The number of schools at various levels: All types of schools reaches the number of 10,813 (not including the number of institutions); of which, 3,808 kindergartens, 5,103 primary school, 1,200 junior middle schools, 243 ordinary high schools, 336 secondary occupation school, 58 regular institutions of higher education, 14 adult colleges.

The number of students at all levels: 3,935,000 students study for levels of degree program in Jilin Province. Among them, 442,000 children in the kindergarten; 1,362,000 students in primary school; 645,000 in junior high school; 453,000 in ordinary high school; 193,000 for secondary vocational education; 834,000 for types of higher education (including adult higher education).

Higher Education: 22 institutions offering postgraduate program, including 5 postgraduate institutes and 17 colleges or universities. Totally there are 58 colleges and universities (including 7 independent institutes), with 2 universities subordinating to MOE while 16 private, 1 belonging to "985 Project" and 3 including in "211 Project". By forms of school running, Jilin University owns 37 undergraduate colleges, 21 vocational schools. In addition, 14 adult colleges or universities are set independently.

Scholarship

Jilin Provincial Government Scholarship is established by Jilin Provincial Government to provide scholarships for international students and scholars to study for Master's degree and complete the postgraduate education in school, aiming at reinforcing international communication and recruiting autonomously international students to enjoy Jilin governmental scholarship.

1. Recruitment Category: Full-time school Masters, not including foreign students who learn their own language, English and French, or any other third countries language literature major.
2. Duration of Scholarship: No more than 2 years.

Application

1. Application Channel and Application Period: The applicants shall directly submit the application forms together with relevant application documents to the International Students Office to Jilin Agricultural University. The application deadline is May 1st, 2014.

2. Qualifications of Applicants:
  (1). Applicants shall be non-Chinese citizens in good health;
  (2). Obey the laws of the Chinese government regulations, the rules and regulations of the school;
  (3). Applicants should have a bachelor's degree approved by China's Ministry of Education, under the age of 35;
  (4). Applicants do not win any other kind of Chinese government scholarship at the same time.

You can fly from Singapore to Beijing first and transfer to another plane from Beijing Capital Airport to Changchun Longjia Airport.

What is the weather like in Jilin?
